We had a wonderful time at Gone Shellin'. It isn't a first row house and the view is blocked by houses in front but there is still a good view in between those houses. The bed was very comfortable. Loved the furniture. It was very helpful to have wi-fi. We will definitely be staying again!
It was a very beautiful setting. A very good deal for the price. The condo could use some general updating but was overall extremely nice. It would be nice to have had a few more staples provided like dishwasher soap, garbage bags, an extra bath towel. No one really wants to have to immediately find a grocery store and fill a big shopping list when they are on vacation. The rental management company was extremely prompt in getting the stove fixed when it went out.

We clearly state that we do not provide dishwasher soap or extra garbage bags. The house sleeps 6 so there were enough linens for 6 people which should have provided a few extra for you. several garbage bags,pouches of cascade and a roll of paper towels are items that the typical renter doesn't bring with their luggage.The bags and cascade are items that you must buy in larger quanties than a weeks supply.What do you do with them at weeks end?
It is stated in our Pre-Arrival package what is provided in the home and things we suggest you pack and bring with you. PLEASE read your Pre-Arrival packet prior to your departure. It really will help.
It would be nice to have an umbrella for the deck with the afternoon sun
Take two middle-aged nuns, add their mothers and stir in a dog and you have the makings of a great vacation. Put all of it together in Gone Shellin' and you have the perfect setting for a wonderful memory-making week at the beach. Kudos to the Coastal Joe folks for their kindnesses and to Carol, the owner, who is so very hospitable.
We recently stayed at Gone Shellin' and had a fabulous time. The unit was exactly as advertised and spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kitchen is well stocked with all needed items and the beds were great. It’s located steps from the beach with a private walk over. The beach was never crowded and the water was great. If you are looking for a small unit with everything you need this is it. We are already planning our return trip.
The house was everything it was presented to be. Very comfortable, clean and pleasantly decorated. The only problem we experienced was that the lower bedroom was very cold in contrast to the upstairs. It would be good if the vent in that room could be closed if desired. Otherwise, our stay there was perfect. We enjoyed every minute.
...and brought our dear friends, Conner and Connie. They loved the place and the visit was perfect; weather and all! One teensy glitch was we didn't bring enough chairs, umbrellas, the storage unit underneath the place that had those items used to be accessible with the house key in the past but was not this time; no big deal, but otherwise a wonderful return trip to Gone Shellin'. Thank you for all you do.
Late check-in: We got the folder fine and the rental co. did a great job. Only suggestion I would have is to not use REEF street as reference point. We got in late and missed the turn at least 3 times. The letters on "REEF" are not reflective so do not show up in headlights. There's a big sign that references the homes on the street. I think it's something like "Silent Sands", (my memory is failing me.) It is a very big sign and would be a better reference than REEF street. NOTE: I just saw that my name is shown as being from WayCata, MN. It should be WayZata, MN. Thanks again for a lovely stay.
The layout of the house is fantastic for two couples or a family. The house is so cute and the owners very easy to work with. We took our dachshund, Lola and she loved the house and beach equally. Loved having the gas grill too! Will stay here again. Thanks.
Having lived in the panhandle of Florida all of my life has been amazing. We have spent many years vacationing in CSB. The beaches are not as pretty as the beaches east of the Cape, but there was no oil from the BP spill. The well was capped while we were in CSB. We like CSB because of the closeness to the "Scalloping Patch". We hope to be able to afford the ever increasing rates. When we stayed the first year in a rental, the cost was $350 for a 4 BR 3 Bath house. Now it is about $1300 for a 2 BR 2 bathroom duplex. We watched the rates soar by $100 per year for many years.
Gone Shellin' is just steps from a beautiful beach, house is great & Coastal Joe's was very helpful with rental process. Hope to come back soon!
Cabin was very clean and well-equipped. Couch and loveseat were both pretty "sat out" and could be replaced. We thought this property was right on the beach, but it was one tier back. However, very close to beach entrance and we had a tiny view of the ocean from the deck. We went fishing one day in the Bay with Captain Pete White--just and awesome experience. Caught our limit of seat trout and then caught huge red fish. We love the Cape and have been there many, many times. It never disappoints.
We appreciated the organization and communication with Coastal Joe. It was a great week and we are hoping to make the trip again but for 2 weeks next time.
Gone Shellin' was a great little rental. It was very clean and decorated in wonderful tropical colors and had all the right touches. We had wonderful fires on the beach and meet some really great people. Thank you for the experience.
good and bad points- good: fabulous wide, dog friendly beach quiet area, good floor plan, wifi, fair price bad: owner misrepresented the proximity of the home to the beach - we thought we would be right on the water, this was not the case. there was a row of houses between us and the beach. living room furniture was not comfortable, ice maker not working We are easy-going people and had a nice visit anyway
Everything was great! Beautiful beach!

well,at first the air conditioner was broke,it finally cooled off after about 5 hours,made the call and the manager got someone out there fast,which was nice.had no idea the bug man was coming.the location was great and the house was great also,some of the pans could be updated.overall,it was a very nice place to stay,thinking about going back again soon!! thank you,rachel fox--
We loved the house! Everything we could possibly need was available for our use, although you might consider a new gas grill, as the one provided doesn't work very well. Other than that, the house is nicely decorated, well equipped, roomy enough for seven and close enough to the beach to be convenient. It was the best vacation we've had in over ten years and will be definitely be back! Thanks so much for the great time!
The location was ideal -- truly 100 steps from the beach! You can watch the water from the deck in the early morning and be on the beach in a few steps. The owners provide beach chairs and water toys and umbrellas and things of that nature, as well as a stereo and DVD player for rainy days and evenings. We love the location and the area and hope to move to the town in the next year or so. However, the furniture in the house was a bit uncomfortable. That was our only complaint. We would certainly recommend Coastal Joe's to anyone.
My husband and I were extremely pleased with our experience at "Gone Shellin" and will be back next year. We have been visiting the Cape for seven years and this first time experience with this property and management was the best of all. The ownners had a very nice note on the side of the refrigerator saying how proud they were of their home and hoped any guest would "treat her as they would their own home." That pride was evident in the furnishings, decorations, colors, and conveniences available to us. We appreciated and respected their place and will be loyal and dependable guests for hopefully years to come!
This trip was our best ever and we will most certainly come back again. The unit was great and the beach was fantastic. we couldn't have ask for more. The only drawback was the mosquitoes so come prepared with repellant but other than that it was a dream vacation.
We travel to Cape San Blas yearly to fish in the wonderful bay. Gone Shellin' has the perfect spot to park our boat and truck. Even better, the beach is just out the door! We would definitely stay here again!
the place was nice and clean. We loved the peace and quiet we had. Walking the beach, surf fishing,having our dog there. picked a wrong time,the bugs were bad this time .I Will be going back and staying there more than one more time again. If you like enjoying the none rush of life stay there.
It was great there's not a lot of "stuff" to due but just relax on the beach. So I got to sleep late take naps. Most of all not a lot people. We didn't have to stand in line for anything and not packed on the beach like sardines.
We really liked the layout of this condo. The main draw was that they allowed pets. Our only complaint was a problem with the wireless internet, we didn't have access during our stay as advertised. Everything else was great and we would stay there again.
