The location of the unit was very good. The view is a bit obstructed by treees but we liked the privacy. Proximity to the beach was also good. The unit layout was excellent and we appreciated having a pet friendly rental...the unit could use some major updating..the carpet is very worn, the beds are horrible and need replacing and the kitchen utensils are quite sparse and broken. We would return to the Cape again but would seek out another pet friendly unit that was in better condition.
Overall, the house was perfect. The woods behind are beautiful, and it's very close to the State Park. Also deeded access to both the bay and gulf just a short walk away made it wonderful to see both sunrise and sunset over the water. The kitchen needs baking pans, a larger skillet, wine bottle opener, etc. If you eat out most of the time, and don't cook often, not a big issue. If you want a private, relaxing vacation, this is it!!
Me and my wife loved the place. it was great for ower dogs also room in the yard to play but still very private. it was not as close to beach access as we would have liked (2 blocks) but would recomend this place to anyone great place will do another vacation next year with coastaljoe but going to try to rent on the beach. thank you coastaljoe one of the best vacations i have had in years
The property is in very good condition, and we love our stays there. However, the kitchen could use some newer cookware. Since there are few restaurants close by, we like to cook when we visit the Cape. Also, the bed pillows are flat, and could use replacing.
For our first trip to the area we were well treated and enjoyed it very much, and look forward to returning in the future, the people at Coastal Joes rentals were very friendly and helpful.
Overall, everything was great. The one thing I would comment on is the speed in which a couple minor issue we had were taken care of. The hose that was on property was nonfunctional and it took until Friday to get a new one (we reported this on Monday). It made for rinsing off from the beach a problem all week, but other than that the stay was great.
We had a fantastic time during our stay at Coast is Clear. It was well worth the very long drive from Pittsburgh, PA. It is a great house in a wonderful location in North Cape San Blas. The house is secluded but also conveniently located, with just a short walk (5 mins) from both the gulf and the bay. The house is very unique and was perfect for just two of us and our dogs, although we could have easily had a few friends or family join us. It is a very dog friendly house with the tiled first floor and decks with no ground access. After rinsing off the sand and saltwater, we were able to get the dogs out onto the deck to dry without making a mess or getting the carpets wet. Once we got groceries the first day, we had everything we needed and only left the house to head to the beach or explore the cape. We would definitely recommend this house and the cape to anyone that wants a quiet and relaxing vacation, as well Coastal Joe Vacation Rentals. Suzy could not have been nicer and more helpful. We will definitely be back next May!
We had a wonderful time. We visited this property several years ago and since our last stay the poor condition of the furniture and the walls was disappointing.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable vacation here but there were a few things that could have been better... The condition of several things was lacking -the grill was in bad shape w/ the top rack rusted thru and pieces falling off. We had to thoroughly clean it before use. The couch upstairs had been chewed by a dog and the home had a pet odor upon arrival. Once the AC got going we didn't notice it much. The upstairs AC did not work until the day before we left, so some evenings it was in the upper 80's up there - difficult to sleep in. It would have been convenient to have a few nonperishable items - 2 rolls of toilet paper per b/r, hand & liquid dish soap, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, 409, etc. The window track over the kitchen sink was black. And the vacuum was in need of replacement. On the positive end, the house was in a convenient location to the beach - rode our bikes there everyday - and to the state park & coneheads. It was very tastefully decorated and we liked the bunk room for the kids & the loft. Wireless internet was convenient. And Cape San Blas was a great place to stay. Enjoyed seeing the sunsets over the gulf from the upstairs deck. Would stay at the Coast is Clear again - so long as the AC was working. Thank you to the Coast is Clear owners for sharing it with us.
The beds and couch were comfortable. The house seemed more private than most due to the empty lots with trees on two sides. It was clean. It's about a 6 or 7 minute walk to the beach. No complaints. We were glad we chose this house.
Not the best access to the beach, an industrial view from the deck, but it's affordable, very comfortable inside and spacious. It needs more dishes and cutlery but apart from that it's fine.
A couple of things...the house hasn't very clean when we checked in. We had to sweep, vacuum and dust when we arrived. Apparently the previous renters had dogs and there was sand and dog hair everywhere. It didn't appear that all the bedding had been changed either as it was covered in dog hair. Also, it might be nice if the beach access was better described in the ad. We thought from the way it read it was across the street. Not exactly the case. The yard could use a little TLC also. Outside of that, it was a very nice place to stay and we would love to come back and stay again. Next time we'll make sure to get a house directly on the beach though. :-)
Cape San Blas was wonderful. We had a great time and would recommend this place to our friends. Beach and Bay both great.
Overall a wonderful place! A few issues need attention: Outdoor light on back deck broken, entry stairwell had a rather offensive odor (dead animal?), floors were sandy upon arrival
I have never been to this part of Florida and was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the openness of the cape and the availability to the beaches. It was enjoyable having the state park so close with it's hiking trails to the bay. I don't think I saw more than 6 people on the beach at one time and they were mostly dog walkers and shell collectors. Our new black lab was in heaven. The layout of the house provided privacy with the bedrooms and bathrooms on the second floor. The internet connection worked perfectly from the get-go. The living room kitchen combo made the house seem larger than it was. The kitchen was equipped for most simple preparations, but being a professional chef, I bring most of my cooking equipment with me when I'm on vacation. The oysters and wild shrimp were incredible. Loved everything about the place. We'll be back. Joan
Beautiful area - I almost don't want the world to know about it.
Previous reviewer complained about cleanliness. Not so. The unit as stated still appears new and was a pet friendly unit no smells to indicate as such. Fabulous!! The only marks would be from pet owners whose beloved ones had a little accident or ate a little bit of a sofa. As for location, the unit is not directly on the beach or bay and the rental information does not indicate that it is. The Cape is very narrow and beach access is within walking distance. For us lazy people or those willing to carry the kitchen sink, a 1 minute drive. Therefore no gripes should be had and the unit price reflects that it is not beachfront, gulf view. Want to spend a little more money, go for it! Mine is better in the wife's pocket. At least I know she'll be happy.Check in and out was painless. Boardwalk is marked private and the bay access I believe was gated. We were unsure so used public access not wanting to bother anyone.Great value for money, property upkeep is good and we thank Don for opening up his home to renters. We love being one of few Canadians on the Cape as a pose to the masses in Central Florida. A1 accomodation and area to vacation for a family. We are a late thirties couple with our two pinschers who are recommending this rental.
A very nice place to rent for a family.
need a boardwalk entrance from san blas road. all exterior lights burnt out, we replaced 3, 4 still out. some hangers in closets would be helpful also some microwaveable dishes. house is a nice layout but would be great closer to the beach. property managers very helpful and freindly. would rent again.
Loved the house. Just like being at home. Would recommend people to rent this home and to deal with Vacation Joe. Location was good, but after seeing Gulf Front homes, we know that is where we want to be next year.
Good location to get the state park......very nice house-not much of a view of the water unless you go to the very top deck-most people couldnt climb the ladder to the loft, though. I would suggest adding garbage bags to the list of things needed to bring or things that you don't supply. Also, there wasn't a dust pan to sweep up in the house(there was a broom). There was not a smoke detector in the MBR
Overall very nice property. Some living room tables need to be replaced. Very shakey construction. It would have been nice to have more specfic information on where the bay and gulf access was located for this property. I could not find the bay access from the directions given by the protperty managers. I had to ask a neighbor, but overall a great place.
A great stay for us. The manager with Coastal Joe was very helpful. He was at the office late and helped us find the property after we arrived after closing time. Property was great and the cost was reasonable.
