The house was fantastic, it was so nice that we didn't want to leave. We enjoyed everthing about the house, the beautiful decor plus the warm bright living area where we spent most of our time. The only slightly disapointing part was the lack of beach front view as the 3 houses infront leaft only a small view of the Golf.
We have decided Fall is the very best time to be at the beach! Weather was impeccable, beach house was incredible, and we enjoyed the paved biking trails so much! Cape San Blas will always be our first choice for beach vacationing!! If there was one negative aspect of our trip, it would be the 'biting flies' on the beach. The first two days we were there was perfect, the last two days the flies came in & ran us off the beach. Hopefully we can find out more about these pesty flies & arrange our vacation time when they aren't there!
We recently spent an awesome week at Cape Cottage. The house is beautiful and offered everything we needed during our stay. The area is so quiet, the beach is clean and beautiful and the sunsets are AMAZING! We needed a week to unwind and Cape Cottage at Cape San Blas was the perfect location!
Our family of 12 truly enjoyed the house and Cape San Blas. There was plently of room for all of us. Just remember the house is a 1st tier house but the house is still close enough to the beach that you forget about the houses in front of you. Already planning our trip for next year.
Had a great time. Will be back.
This was our best beach vacation ever! When you are used to crowded beaches with no room to turn around without tripping over somebody, this adventure was a stark contrast. The house was beautiful, open and spacious with many places to "get away". One suggestion though, a refrigerator on the lower level would be very convenient. We truly enjoyed the slower pace of things on the Cape. Thanks for a great vacation...we will definitely be back!!
Carpets in bedrooms really need to be cleaned and we saw a few roaches inside. Other than that inside was pretty good. Our biggest concern was the 2 rattle snakes we encountered in the yard!!!! Not something you expect to see at the beach. But overall it was a great family vacation.
The house was very comfortable with the beach within close proximity - the veiw of the gulf from the deck was limited by the other homes. The beach was clean and not crowded. Scalloping in the bay was a new activity for all.
It would be nice to have a table on the deck beside the kitchen.
had the pool cleaned and vaccumed. This house was the best equiped home we have ever rented. A real Plus.
I know I'm suppose to be reviewing the house but got to start by giving a shout out to the staff at Coastal Joe's...thumbs up to all of you....everybody I talked to was extremely nice and very helpful. Ok...on to the house. This is a first tier house, which means that yes there are 2 houses that sit between the property and the beach, but to me that made no difference as the house was still within 50 steps to the sandy beach. And as for the view from the balconies, you can still see the ocean and hear the surf so they didn't hinder that and just as a side note...the two houses are beautiful in themselves and I thought kinda added to the whole feel of being at a beach. The elevator was a god send and extremely helpful for getting luggage up and down and also very helpful with getting the groceries inside. Just remember it is a 'house' elevator and not a commercial, so there is a weight limit and not exactly the speediest. Also, if your not using the elevator all the time the steps up and down to the 3rd level do get a bit tiring. It reminded me of being on a cruise ship having to climb stairs all the time. The interior of the house is very nice...very beachy. All of the rooms were neat, clean and well maintained. Only thing that bothered me was that there is a chair rail that runs the entire house, which is very nice and beautiful, but I kept hitting my forearm on it and came home with a few new bruises....small price to pay for such a great place. Is there anything I would change about the house? No not really. My bed was very comfortable and everybody else said theirs was also. Is there anything I would recommend taking with you? Again, no not really. The kitchen is very well equipped and we found everything we needed already there. There is a ground floor room that has a lot of beach 'equipment' already there. Chairs, an umbrella, noodles, sand toys, goggles, boogy boards and even 2 bicycles. Just a quick note a
Wonderful week in a wonderful house!!! Loved the close proximity to pool and beach! Was able to watch my kids and grandkids play on the beach from the deck. Cape Cottage was a beautiful and very functional home, and we loved being there! The elevator is a big plus when loading and unloading!!! Hope to be back next season! Thank you for a great vacation!
We loved the house and found that it was very accommodating to ALL members of our family. I loved how the pool was right next door with a fence around it because I didn't have to worry about my 3 y.o. just wandering over and getting in or falling in without me. The beach was super close! The gas grill appeared to be brand new. We felt right at home and spoiled with all the frosty mugs in the freezer and all the cute beach-y dishes and tervis tumblers. We didn't use the bikes..but found plenty of extra supplies in the guest storage. I also LOVED the bottom floor half did my 3 y.o.!! We would definitely rent this house again and I have already reccommended it to my co-workers.
This house perfect for our vacation. The house had everything we needed and then some. You cannot beat the location. You basically an get ocean front property without the price. The house was in excellent condition. The comfortable beds were a treat. Most rental homes tend to have cheap mattresses. This house could easily convert to a 5bdr. The second family room has french doors and a pull out sofa. Do not hesitate to rent this house.
The Beach, The Pool, The Sunsets, The Weather. It was great!
Wonderful accomodations and the location is beautiful! We are planning our return trip for next year. Thanks so much!!
This was our first time in the area, and we were not disappointed in any way. It was a most pleasant seven days. A sign of our satisfaction was that the time went by so quickly.
Our visit to Cape San Blas was a family affair with 6 adults, 1 toddler, and 2 dogs. Cape Cottage exceeded our expectations. What a beach retreat! Very comfortable and well appointed home to come to after being on the beach or out and about in the area. We didn't use the pool but it looked very inviting. The elevator was a great help with luggage and groceries. Lots of room for all of us to have our space! Great views from sunrise to sunset. Our thanks to everyone for making our vacation so pleasant. Would love to visit here again.
blender was broken, and TV in upstairs master didn't work. Otherwise, a PERFECT place to stay, great location, great amenities and decor. Wish we could find something similar just a little bit smaller as it was way too much house for future trips when it's just 2 of us....
It was very nice that they furnished chairs, bikes, etc. Beautiful house and decorated so nicely. Would LOVE it even more as beachfront. Only downside was sharing the pool...someone's baby had an accident and we no longer used the pool. :(
We have been coming to the Cape for over 20 years and thank the owner Dawn and the agent Coastal Joe for making this a memorable June 19-26 vacation. Cape Cottage fitted the needs of our large family and we've made our reservations for 2011.
We loved the rental, but there were a couple of items that I would like to mention that could be improved. The elevator was not operating, so bringing up our luggage and groceries was quite a chore. Also, the renters before us had left trash outside in the cans (they were full and overflowing) that must have contained some leftover seafood. The smell was so bad until garbage pickup on Monday or Tuesday we could not sit on the front porches. We also had no place to put our trash until theirs was picked up and there were maggots and flies in their trash by the first of the week. We also left a full load of trash when we left and there was leftover seafood in ours too, so the tenants coming after us probably will have the same complaint. Is there any way that you could have the maid service take the trash left by a departed tenant to a dumpster instead of leaving it on the street for several days? That was my biggest complaint. One more small item, the blender was missing a bottom piece so we had to go out and buy one for our smoothies. It was very enjoyable though and we will be back!! Thank you
The elevator was checked on Saturday after the guests departed. The elevator problem was not reported during their stay. The elevator was working properly and there were no problems when it was checked. The elevators that are put into single family homes are very testy! If the directions are not followed exactly; the elevator will not operate. It is imperative to report problems to our office immediately. If this had been reported it would have easily been resolved and the guests would have been able to use the elevator for their stay. Trash is picked up on Saturdays and Mondays.
Very beautiful house, decorated with great style. The location is great. There are houses in front of you but there is a limited unobstructed view! You get a first tier price, but the beach access is closer than many beach front homes. Lots of windows and porches! Great for multiple families. Cons: the pool was if heater was on. Some of the plumbing didn't work but was fixed quickly. Something was wrong with TV (wireless TV), no TV for the first couple of days. No biggy for me, but some wanted it. Cape San Blas is the most beautiful beach in FL! We have rented many houses..I would def. stay here again!
We were looking for a nice place to stay, close to or on the beach, some place you can just sit back and relax. That is exactly what we got at cape cottage. The house was everything we wanted, upscale and comfortable, great location, had a pool, and pet friendly. The only downside to this house is that there are two houses sitting in front of it(gulf side)which block some of the view, but all you have to do is walk 40 yards down the boardwalk right from your deck and you get all the view you need, can't ask for more than that. We can't wait until next summer so we can visit again! I would definitely recommend the cape cottage to anyone looking to rent a house on cape san blas.
We loved the house, location, and the weather was perfect. Perfect size house for our family. Our grandaughter asked me on the last day: "Can we sneak in just ONE MORE day?" We will definetly be returning to Cape San Blas!
We had a great time and loved the house. The photos do not do it justice. Our only disappointment was that the elevator was not working, and we had my 86 year old mother with us who has trouble with stairs. It is a lovely house, well stocked kitchen and charming lot!
The house is beautiful and it is well-equipped. We felt though that the linen service was inadequate considering the extra cost of $70. We had THREE towels between two of us in the master suite (2 bath towels--very thin--and ONE hand towel). We had to wash towels almost every day. Our greatest disappointment was the view. When we booked, we saw that there was a clear view of the gulf. When we arrived, there were in front of us two completed houses and one house under construction and wrapped in construction logo--NOT an aesthetic view. There was a small path between houses to the beach and it was littered with construction debris. We picked up several nails and staples. With small children traversing the sand there, it was dangerous. Add to that the construction noises and the cranes blocking the path to the beach one of the days. We really liked the house but missed the view we thought we would have. Couldn't even see the sunsets without going on the beach. It would've been nice to enjoy that view from the third floor porch.
We called the management company on Monday about a few problems and our call was not registered. We had to call again on Wed. but had a very helpful person that time. There is definitely a leak that is flooding the screened porch that was not addressed and should be for the homeowner's sake. The porch floor will rot if it's not. It wasn't a problem for us as we only used the upper porch. But the water would really preclude anyone from eating on the screened porch. Also, it would be nice to have a few deck chairs in addition to the lounge chairs on the upper deck. But we had a wonderful time. The homeowner has done a beautiful job decorating - we enjoyed the house very much and would definitely recommend it to others.
We all loved the cottage and loved Cape San Blas. It was our first time to visit the Cape. However, I was disappointed that there is another building under construction between the cottage and the beach. The weather was intermittently bad and cold, which was probably a blessing because it kept the construction workers away until the last 2 days. That fact should certainly have been disclosed, as I asked specifically if the property directly faced the beach with nothing in between. Sadly, by the next time I visit, there probably won't be much of a view at all. I am sure the owners must be unhappy with that, as well. When I asked the person who checked us in, he shrugged his shoulders like he didn't know anything about the construction. Fortunately, we had a wonderful time in spite of the weather and the construction.
Everything was wonderful. The Beach was great. Access to the beach chairs and "toys" was a big help. The only down side was the construction in front of the home, but that will be gone soon. Thanks for a wonderful week (5 days).
The only problem that we had with our stay was that unfortunately there was construction going on at the two closest homes but that could not be helped. As far as the house, everything you really need is there. We pulled a trailer with extra toys, bikes and lots of other things we never would have needed. The elevator was a bit tricky to get working at first when we tried to bring our luggage in, there is a learning curve to it. Overall, it was wonderful and I would love to stay there again.
