2021 Cape San Blas Dune Enhancement Project

We are proud to let our guests know that Cape San Blas has partnered with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to engage in a project that will greatly enhance the health of our dunes and protect them going forward. This project kicked off at the end of February, and will continue for the next few months along the Gulf front beach of the St. Joseph Peninsula (from the Stumphole area to the Billy J Rish Park). The project consists of bringing in fresh sand to reconstruct and replenish the dunes, as well as planting multiple native dune vegetation species totaling over 600,000 plants along the coast.

As of March 16, the project has now moved to the area where our Cape San Blas rentals are located. Because this is a major construction project, we wanted to make sure our guests are aware of what is going on and how the beach might be affected.

FAQs:

Question: WILL I BE ABLE TO USE THE BEACH WHILE THE PROJECT IS GOING ON?

Answer: Yes! Although it might mean that you will use a slightly different beach access than the one closest to your property, depending on where the construction is that day.

Question: WHAT DAYS OF THE WEEK SHOULD I EXPECT THE CONSTRUCTION WORK?

Answer: The restoration project will be in progress Monday through Friday during daylight hours only

Question: WILL THE CONSTRUCTION BE NOISY?

Answer: Yes, the reality is that construction like this can be noisy at times, as heavy equipment is used to transport and grade the sand. This should only affect you when the construction is closest to the property you are staying in, but the project will continue to move up the beach.
